Giving Back to Toastmasters - Thank YOU!

How was your Saturday April 28th?

Just back from a wonderful month with speaking engagements in Kuala Lumpar, Tokyo, Bali, Singapore and the Gold Coast, I had a “nice leisurely Saturday” with two special local speaking engagements; one at 9am in Singapore to celebrate a GRAND PRIX RACE day for a leading Singapore MNC and one at 4pm in JB as a guest speaker for the District 51 Toastmasters Convention.

Both presentations were high energy, motivational and emphasized human potential and looked to share some “simple tools” that would engage, empower, and inspire personal development! Many thanks to Elsie, Diana, and Jeffrey for a superb Grand Prix event!

In the past six months, I have played with the concept of “CONTINUAL SHIFT” along with “make shift happen” and on saturday, during both talks, i clearly shared my intention to share this important message to more people around the world.

“SHIFT WILL HAPPEN” in our lives and it will be our choice in what ways that we will respond to these shifts. I love the idea of “making shift happen” and find that it is fresh and empowering concept that hopefully will serve us as we move forward living and designing the life of our dreams.

During the talk in JB, we had two lucky winners of tickets to the upcoming National Achievers Congress featuring Mark Victor Hanson, T Harv Ecker, Roger Hamilton and five other world class speakers including my friend Tung from Indonesia. Congratulations to LL Kun and Mdn Nirmala! It was terrific to have guests from Jakarta including representatives from TNT, Citibank, and Pt Indoraya as well as visitors from Brunei, Penang, KL, Selangor, and most cities throughout Malaysia.

It was a great event and i thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share the The 7 Steps to SHIFT to Professional Speaking

- Learn how professional speakers get started in the business and how you can get started TODAY!

- Embrace the 4 E Mastery Approach Endorsed by the National Speakers Association - Develop an approach to content development that works for you

- Hear Personal Stories how Dave went from managing a US$1 billion bond portfolio to speaking professionally

- Gain valuable insights about the professional speaking industry globally Explore the magic of finding your voice, your purpose and making a difference around the world

Many thanks to the organizing committee of the District 51 Convention, my awesome support and super sales guy Jack, and special thanks to Irene Lau for the kind invitation to speak at the convention. If you are interested in improving your public speaking please do contact the Toastmasters club close by your home, it will help you change your life! In 2000, i first joined TM and my life has never been the same again.

If you are interested in learning about PROFESSIONAL SPEAKING, come to Singapore for the Asia Pacific Speakers Summit May 17 and May 18, www.apss2007.com for details.

Have a brilliant month ahead, Dave

Cherry Blossoms, Speaking and Coaching in Tokyo

Spring Speaking in Japan - April 5 to April 7

cherry blossoms in japan WOW - na tsu ka shi - it has been 11 years since i experienced the Cherry Blossom season in Japan and it was absolutely de-light-ful!

A brisk early morning walk along the sakura-dori area, breathing in the fresh fragrance of cherry blossoms was an equisite treat to my olfactory senses - “bloody brilliant” as my friend and business associate Samantha Backman would energetically add!

XL (extraordinary lives) Tokyo, the japanese arm of the XL entrepreneur results foundation, was the host of the two hour keynote and it was WOW - the audience was lively, energetic and hungry for some key learnings.

The EASE OF EXPERTISE - nine steps to turn a hobby into some pocket change and beyond shares nine simple, yet highly effective tools and techniques to turn your talent, interest or hobby into a healthy, growing and positive cash flow business.

Ideal for entrepreneurs, aspiring speakers, or professionals domain experts, the EASE TO EXPERTISE keynote unlocks hidden value and allow participants to smoothly and easily monetize intrinsic value!

What was great about tokyo?

- the cherry blossoms, temperature, the people and the food

What did you eat?

- i set a person record of three sushi meals in a day - lunch at JT building, dinner at Sushi Sei, and early morning (aka late late) night in roppongi

What did you learn?

- speaking with a translator has some wonderful issues about jokes and timing - hahaha - Tamami did a great job - our pre talk salsa dancing got us into the rhythm before the presentation - strongly recommend some interaction with the translator prior to going on stage.

What was the biggest change?

i visited the new complex Tokyo Midtown - WOW - what an incredible new centre, very close to Roppongi and Azabu and very upscale! Great restaurants and plenty of shops.

What was biggest surprise?

Was enjoying a relaxing libation at the new swanky Ritz Carlton and heard a big splash, turned around and someone fell into one of the fountain pools. Later in the evening as i was walking, i almost made the same tumble. Folks at Ritz, please do increase the lighting or place something that warms patrons of the sharp turn entering the bar.

Last Words,

Many thanks to Tamami, Masami, Ayuki, and team for coordinating the event as well to Max for the videoing. Look forward to speaking and coaching more in Japan and it was great to meet up with Kawamoto san and MR LUCKY for some insightful and stimulating coaching sessions.

Make magic happen,

Dave
